Whitening is a well-established procedure and, when it's carried out by a registered practitioner after a proper health check, it's considered safe for suitable candidates.
Every appointment at With Gleam begins with a health history and a review of your teeth and gums, so treatment only proceeds when it's appropriate for you. Working within a clinical framework - rather than a one-size-fits-all kit - is exactly what keeps it safe.
-
Whitening isn't painful. Some people notice temporary tooth sensitivity during or after a session - this is common, usually short-lived, and something we screen for and manage.
Your health history and a quick check beforehand help flag anyone more likely to experience it, so the approach can be adjusted. Your aftercare guidance covers how to minimise any sensitivity.
-
At many salons, whitening is performed by an unregistered operator using cosmetic-grade products, with no health assessment.
With Gleam sits between the salon and the dental chair: whitening performed by an AHPRA-registered oral health therapist, within a clinical framework and after a proper health check - but as a focused, accessible service rather than a full dental appointment.
The clinical standard, without the full dental-chair price.
-
Whitening responds differently from person to person, and some types of discolouration lighten more readily than others - surface staining behaves differently to deeper or age-related discolouration, for example.
That's why suitability is assessed at your appointment rather than promised in advance, so you get an honest picture of what whitening can and can't do for your teeth specifically. Results vary between individuals.

Yes - when you book, you'll complete a short health questionnaire. It takes only a few minutes and covers your medical and dental history, so whitening can be confirmed as appropriate and the session tailored to you. Returning clients complete a brief update at each visit.
-
Whitening generally isn't recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for under-18s, or where there are certain dental conditions - such as untreated decay, gum disease, or particular restorations.
This isn't an exhaustive list; suitability is always assessed individually at your appointment, which is the whole point of the health check.
-
The Premium In-Chair Whitening session runs about an hour, including your consultation and health check.
The Express Touch-Up is a shorter maintenance session, around 30 minutes.
-
You'll leave with clear aftercare guidance, and with the Premium session a take-home LED aftercare kit is included as standard.
The first day or so matters most - you'll be talked through what to eat and avoid, and how to look after any short-term sensitivity. It's all straightforward.
-
Item Payment is taken securely by card through Square at the time of your appointment. To confirm an appointment, a 10% deposit of the service fee will be required.
-
We ask for at least 48 hours' notice to reschedule or cancel.
Because the service runs by appointment with limited spots, giving notice means your slot can go to someone else who's waiting.
